System shock pre alpha demo on steam forum10/28/2023 One is called Pre-Alpha, and one is called Demo. Let's hope it will drop to $30, the Kickstarter price that backers paid. When you search for System Shock in the Steam search bar, you get TWO hits. To celebrate the demo becoming available to a much wider audience, a livestream showing the demo plus a 30-minute Q&A will be on the Shacknews Twitch Channel. Automaps are line drawings just like the original. Developer Nightdive Studios has just announced that an alpha demo for the System Shock remake is now available for PC via Steam and GOG. System Shock is powered by the Unity Engine and its demo represents the look and feel. In addition, the team has launched the game’s Kickstarter campaign, aiming to raise 900K in the next 29 days. Cyberspace looks like wire frames just like the original, except it is now less confusing to look at. Night Dive Studios has just released the pre-alpha demo for the remastered version of System Shock. I've played the demo and all indications seems to be that this remake intends to retain the old-school game design through and through: no quest log, no quest marker, no press E to open doors (you have to actually click on the door switch, just like in the original game), and, to some players' consternation, pixellated graphics! All textures look pixellated if you look at them really closely. A delay or two, as is often the case, could push it to end of 2021 or beyond. The end of Summer is actually end of September (in the northern hemisphere). The developer, Nightdive Studios, has not specified a release date, and only said "Summer 2021." Aug-31-2021 was probably a placeholder date on the website you saw.
